Hillsboro man sentenced for child endangering
A Hillsboro man was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to endangering children.
As previously reported, Nichlas Tillard, 34, of Hillsboro was charged with endangering children, a fourth-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, during the March 7 Highland County grand jury session. He pleaded guilty to both charges just a few weeks later, on March 29.
Tillard was charged with “creating a substantial risk to the health or safety” of a minor child in December. On the same date, it is alleged Tillard “did knowingly cause or attempt to cause physical harm” to an individual.
According to a bill of particulars, it is alleged that Tillard choked a victim to the point of losing consciousness. The victim was holding a small child at the time of the incident and dropped the child upon losing consciousness.
During a hearing May 4, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Tillard to a definite determinate term of 12 months on the endangering children charge. A six-month sentence in the Highland County Jail for the misdemeanor count is to run concurrently. Tillard had 66 days of jail time credit.
