Greenfield woman sentenced in meth trafficking case

A Greenfield woman indicted on 12 counts last year was sentenced to prison recently after pleading guilty to multiple meth trafficking charges.

In December, a Highland County grand jury charged Darcy Binegar, 26, with five counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, three third-degree and two fourth-degree felonies; six counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, three third-degree and three fifth-degree felonies; and one count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone, a third-degree felony.

The charges all stemmed from a Highland County Task Force investigation, with a bill of particulars alleging that Binegar sold methamphetamine in the Greenfield area to confidential informants.

According to court records, Binegar pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine — all three third-degree felonies, plus one fourth-degree felony — in February. The other eight counts were dismissed.

The bill of particulars alleged that for the first count, Binegar sold 1.21 grams of meth to a CI in the Greenfield area in October 2021. The second count charged her with selling 3.15 grams of meth (bulk amount is three grams) to a CI at a separate location in Greenfield, also in October 2021.

In June 2021, it is alleged that Binegar sold 6.03 grams of meth (bulk amount is three grams) to another CI in Greenfield. The final count alleged that Binegar sold another .36 grams of meth to a CI in Greenfield.

During a hearing March 9, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Binegar to a definite determinate term of four years and 11 months in prison, with jail time credit of seven days. She was ordered to pay restitution and court costs, according to court records.

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records show that Binegar was admitted into the Ohio Reformatory for Women on March 20.
