Greenfield man sentenced to prison for trafficking meth
A Greenfield man was sentenced to prison recently after pleading guilty to trafficking meth.
Shawn M. Howland, 22, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in December 2022. He was charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a second-degree and a third-degree felony; aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; and theft by deception, a first-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, Howland pleaded guilty to the third-degree felony trafficking charge in February, with the remaining three charges dismissed.
The indictment alleged that on or about May 31, 2022, Howland “did knowingly sell or offer to sell” meth “in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.”
During a hearing March 8, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Howland to a definite determinate term of 24 months in prison, with jail time credit of two days. He was also ordered to pay restitution and court costs, according to court records.
Howland was admitted into the Correctional Reception Center in Orient on March 24, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
