Chillicothe man sentenced to community control in local drug conveyance case
A Chillicothe man was sentenced to community control recently after pleading guilty to conveying drugs into the Greenfield Jail.
As previously reported, Jeremiah J. Johnson, 34, was indicted in January on one count of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, a third-degree felony; and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.
According to court records, Johnson pleaded guilty to the conveyance charge April 7. The possession charge was dismissed.
A bill of particulars alleged that on or about Sept. 4, Johnson was an inmate at the Greenfield Jail, where it was discovered that he had “a bag of sugar and a container of coffee” brought in as commissary items. Upon investigation by officers, a plastic baggie of meth was found inside the sugar container.
During a sentencing hearing May 3, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Johnson to three years of community control. Johnson was also ordered to pay court costs and to successfully complete a recommended treatment program, according to court records.
