    Lion 3rd, Indians 6th and Mangus continues to be 1st

    Saturday's boys varsity cross-country race started with a cannon fired by the costumed First Mad River Light Artillery with a Revolutionary War cannon and ended with a familiar face at the front of the pack as Fairfield junior Michael Mangus was the winner of the George Rogers Clark Invitational at Springfield Catholic Central High School.

    Competing against 17 total teams in an event with 162 runners, the Hillsboro Lady Indians cross-country team placed seventh on Saturday in the George Rogers Clark Invitational.

    The run of multiple Southern Hills League golf championships by the West Union Dragons was put to a stop on Thursday as they Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs overtook the Dragons on day three and held the advantage on day four at Hilltop Golf Course to gain the league title by a single stroke.

    The Lynchburg-Clay Mustang golf team moved into first place in the Southern Hills League golf tournament, posting a team score of 180 and in the process erasing a nine-stroke lead by North Adams Tuesday at the White Oak Golf Course.
