In commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) is seeking volunteers to install a memorial flag display on the west lawn of the Ohio Statehouse. The 9/11 flag display will be open to the public from Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. until Monday, Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. in downtown Columbus.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board will host a family-friendly event Wednesday, July 24 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to highlight the importance of Ohio’s role in space exploration.

Audrea Hickman’s son Jarrin was murdered on April 17, 2020. She shared her story during a rally as part of the Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Annual Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse Wednesday.

A couple hundred people donning purple — some holding babies and others watching toddlers — rallied on the Statehouse steps Monday for National Day Without Child Care as chants of “Care can’t wait” and “No child care, no workforce” filled the lawn.

On Wednesday, May 22, the Ohio Village Muffins and Lady Diamonds will face off against the Capitol Cannons, state senators and representatives, in an old-fashioned game of “base ball.” The match will go from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Ohio Statehouse West Lawn, and it is free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, May 7, cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and cyclists from across the state traveled to the Capitol to ride around the Statehouse and to meet with their elected officials during Cancer Action Day. They let lawmakers know that Ohio can and must do better to improve access to cancer care.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) will commemorate the Repose of President Abraham Lincoln in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda on Monday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

March is recognized nationally as Women's History Month. The Ohio Statehouse has two events and an exhibit planned for March to celebrate women’s achievements. 

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) and the Capitol Square Foundation announce the 2024 Great Ohioan Award recipients. The Capitol Square Foundation presented the selected individuals from nominations submitted by citizens and organizations across Ohio. 

In Erie County, former state lawmaker Steven Kraus is challenging Rep. D.J. Swearingen, R-Huron, for the GOP nomination in Ohio’s 89th House district. But an Ohio Supreme Court challenge is trying to kick Kraus off the ballot. He was convicted of felony theft in 2015 which is a disqualifying offense under state law. Kraus contends that because he got that conviction sealed, he should be allowed to hold public office.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board and Capitol Square Foundation will unveil the 9-foot by 12-foot painting, “Ohioans in Space” by artist Bill Hinsch, at the Ohio Statehouse on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 8:30 p.m. in the Rotunda.
