McClain High School has been named one of the Top 40 Division finalists in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights competition, selected from nearly 2,500 schools nationwide for a chance to win a $1 million home field upgrade.

McClain is the only finalist from Ohio. McClain will now receive $25,000 and a T-Mobile-hosted game celebration tomorrow night and will compete against nine other schools in the Midwest Division to become the Division finalist.

A three-time FN5GL applicant and $5K Fridays recipient for each of the last two years, the McClain Tigers are rich in tradition and attend classes in one of Ohio’s oldest high school buildings. The grand prize would help bring long-needed upgrades to the athletic field and modernize restroom facilities that have not been updated since the 1980s – giving students, families and Tigers fans a game-day experience that reflects McClain’s pride and history.

McClain Principal Matt Shelton said, "For 111 years, McClain High School has been at the heart of Greenfield. Generations of Tigers have filled these halls, cheered from these stands, and carried that Tiger pride with them long after graduation. Being named a T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights finalist is an incredible honor for our students, our school, and our entire community. We are proud to represent McClain, proud to represent Greenfield, and ready to show just how loud Tiger Nation can roar.”

McClain is among a group of high schools nationwide recognized for their school spirit, creativity, and community support. At tomorrow night's game (10/9), T-Mobile will present the $25K check and host a celebration featuring games and giveaways. The check presentation will take place at halftime.
