Roundball Reunion to celebrate 60th anniversary of Highland, Clinton county basketball tournaments
A Roundball Reunion will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Wilmington College’s Kelly Center, in the McCoy Room on College Street in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the last Clinton and Highland County tournaments.
The purpose of the event is to honor all those players, cheerleaders, managers and coaches who participated in the high school county basketball tournaments in Clinton and Highland counties. All participants will be introduced, with special recognition to honored groups. It has been 60 years since the last county tournaments were played in 1964.
Schools that will be recognized are:
• Clinton County: Adams, Blanchester, Clarksville, Jefferson, Kingman, Martinsville, New Vienna, Port William, Sabina, Simon Kenton and Wayne.
• Highland County: Belfast, Buford, Fairfield, Lynchburg, Marshall, Sinking Spring and Whiteoak.
All of the above-mentioned schools participated in the county tournaments in the ’50s, but due to consolidation, not all of them played in the ’60s.
In addition to the tournament participants, anyone can attend this event. There is no admission charge. All attendees are encouraged to bring available memorabilia, including, but not limited to, team pictures, newspaper articles, tournament programs, etc.
