Tigers take down Indians, Bearcats in tri-match

The McClain Tigers defeated the Hillsboro Indians and Paint Valley Bearcats in a tri-match on Thursday at Hillsboro High School. 

McClain earned the Frontier Athletic Conference win with a 58-18 victory over the Indians and won the non-conference match vs. Paint Valley at 41-29.

Against HHS, forfeit wins for the Tigers included Keegan Parker (106), Adam Coleman (113), Jack Spencer (150), Cameron Skaggs (175), Hunter Skaggs (190) and Braylon Oyer (215). 

Dalton Rowland of MHS won at 144 pounds in the first round, and Carlos Gonzalez won in the second round at 157 pounds. 

Hillsboro’s Andrew Shelton won in round one at 285 pounds, Landon Frazier won at 126 pounds for HHS in round one, and Kenneth Miller won via forfeit at 132.

Lady Tigers defeat McClain on wrestling mats 

The McClain Lady Tigers traveled to Hillsboro High School and defeated their rivals for an FAC win by a 30-24 score. 

The event saw HHS gain wins by Izzy Storer (115) by pin, Arielle Burns (125) by forfeit, Peyton Hipsher (140, pin) and Miley Messer (100, forfeit).

For McClain, wins came from: Lexie Burns (120, forfeit), Chimera Bryant (135, forfeit), Sarah Kelley (170, pin), Emily Hudnell (190, forfeit) and KC Foster (235, forfeit).

Lady Indians 11th at Brown Brothers Invitational 

The Hillsboro girls wrestling team participated in the 2026 Brown Brothers Invitational, where they placed 11th overall out of 38 teams in the event at Jackson High School on Sunday, Jan. 18. 

Individual finishes for HHS included Izzy Storer placing third place (115), Miley Messer in fifth place (100), Peyton Hipsher in fifth place (140) and Khloe Daniels in fifth place (170),

Indians place 13th at Hammer & Anvil 

The Hillsboro Indians wrestled at the 2026 Hammer & Anvil Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17 at Western Brown High School, where they placed 13th overall. 

Placers for Hillsboro included Landon Frazier in third place (126) and Andrew Shelton in fifth place (285). HHS also had Jace Zugg finish in seventh place (157), and Robbie Souder was eighth place (138).

Tigers 10th at Miami Trace Invitational 

The McClain boys wrestling team placed 10th overall out of 20 teams at the 2026 Miami Trace Invitational. 

Placers for the Tigers included: Isaac Morgan (second, 132), Hunter Skaggs (second, 190), Keegan Parker (sixth, 106) and Carlos Gonzalez (sixth, 157).

Lady Indians place 5th at Alexander, McClain 10th

The Hillsboro Lady Indians wrestled at an invitational at Alexander High School on Sunday, Jan. 11, where they placed 5th overall out of 42 teams in the event. 

For Hillsboro, placers included Miley Messer (second, 100), Peyton Hipsher (second, 140), Izzy Storer (fourth), 115, Arielle Burns (fourth) and Khloe Daniels (fourth, 170). 

McClain’s placers were: Lexie Burns (third, 120), Sarah Kelley (fifth, 170) and K.C. Foster (first place, 235).

Tigers take first place at East Clinton; Indians wrestle at East Clinton 

Taking part in an invitational at East Clinton High School on Saturday (Jan. 10), the McClain Tigers won the event with a first-place finish, while the Hillsboro boys wrestling team was fourth place out of eight teams in the event. 

The event saw the following team scores: McClain 50, East Clinton 12; McClain 48, McNicholas 29; McClain 45, Badin 30; McClain 53, Hillsboro 9; and McClain 54, Greeneview 24.
