GREENFIELD — The McClain Lady Tiger soccer team played two excellent halves both offensively and on defense en route to an impressive 7-0 shutout of Jackson Tuesday evening at McClain Field.

“This is the first time ever that a McClain girls soccer team would defeat Jackson in both matches played in the same season,” McClain head coach Blain Bergstrom said. “We beat them down there 4-1 and then came home and won 7-0 tonight.”

Senior Paisley Pryor got the hat-trick early when she scored all three of McClain’s first half goals giving the purple-and-gold a 3-0 advantage at intermission.

Pryor scored her fourth goal of the match at the 28:41 mark of the second half and the Lady Tigers lead grew to 4-0.

Freshman Lyndi Cockerill scored McClain’s fifth goal after a great assist from Pryor, followed by a goal from senior Larah Henson on assist by Sydnee Walker. Cockerill finished off the scoring in the match on her second goal with just under 13 minutes remaining in the game.

“Paisley (Pryor) got the hat-trick scoring all three of our goals in the first half, and added one in the second half giving her four for the game,” Bergstrom said. Lyndee Cockerill added two, and Larah Henson had one and Cockerill had all four assists on Pryor’s goals, that’s good stuff.

“I thought we also played pretty good defense getting the shutout and Izzy Carter our senior goalie who is still in-experienced did a nice job and continues to improve and learn every game. It’s always good when you get a shoutout but we’ve got a really tough one here Thursday night when we play Hillsboro.

“Hopefully we can go out with a win for our seniors.”
