McClain shuts out FAC rival Chillicothe

The McClain Tigers earned a big Frontier Athletic Conference victory Wednesday against the visiting Chillicothe Cavaliers by a 10-0 score in five innings. 

McClain held the Cavaliers to one hit in the game as Easton Ary pitched a gem for the host Tigers at Tom Hixon Field at Mitchell Park. Ary went five innings on the mound where he allowed no runs on one hit and two walks with 10 strikeouts. Ary faced 19 batters where he threw 81 pitches, 45 for strikes. 

As for the offense of the Tigers, they collected four hits and walked 11 times. MHS scored three runs in the bottom of the first, followed with one run in the second, two in the fourth, and four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

Two hits were off the bat of Kolton Lamb, who was 2-for-2 with two runs, two steals and two RBI. 

Ary with the bat was 1-for-3, and Jayce Storts was 1-for-2 with a run scored. 

McClain also had Connor Chandler finish with two runs and three walks, and teammate Hunter Peabody scored a run, had one steal and walked twice. 

Carson Chandler drew two walks (with three steals), Kamden Penwell scored one run and drew a walk, Eli Douglas was hit by a pitch and scored a run, and Matthew Cummins scored two runs, collected one steal and walked once. 

The win improves the Tigers’ record to 4-1 overall this season. 

Next for MHS is a home non-conference game on Friday, April 10 against Clinton-Massie. On Saturday (April 11), the Tigers are scheduled to host the Fairfield Lions at 11 a.m.
