Lady Tigers win by 4 over Adena

Monday evening (Jan. 5) the McClain Lady Tigers were back on the court for the first time since Dec. 20 for in-game regular season action, and they continued to add to their overall season win total by defeating the Adena Lady Warriors, 36-32 at Adena High School. 

The non-conference game saw the Lady Tigers battle for the win, as they led 11-7 after the first quarter, followed with a 25-13 halftime lead after outscoring the Lady Warriors 14-6 in the second quarter. 

Scoring was at a premium in the second half for the Lady Tigers as they were outscored 19-11 in the final two quarters. Adena won the third frame at 8-5, then the home team Lady Warriors won the fourth frame at 11-6. 

MHS was led in the scoring column by Paisley Pryor with 21 points, finishing the game with six two-pointers, two 3-pointers (both in the second quarter), and she made three free throws. 

Larah Henson chipped in with eight points by sinking a 3-pointer, two two-point baskets and a free throw. 

Allie Burgess finished with five points as she drained a 3-pointer and connected with a two-point bucket. Scoring two points was Brie Cummins by making two free throws. 

Team totals for MHS included nine two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and six made free throws. 

The win improves the Lady Tigers’ record to 9-1 overall on the season, as they are also 5-0 in the Frontier Athletic Conference, first place in the standings. 

Next for McClain is a FAC game on Saturday, Jan. 10 on the road at Chillicothe against the Lady Cavaliers (0-5, 1-11).
