Lady Tigers play 3 games in 3 days

The McClain Lady Tigers played three games in three consecutive days as they faced the Jackson Ironladies, Western Brown Lady Broncos and the North Adams Lady Green Devils. 

Starting on Wednesday, the McClain Lady Tigers lost to the Jackson Ironladies at Daryle Unger Field by a 15-3 score on April 22 in Greenfield. 

Jackson scored one run in the top of the first, then added three runs in the third, seven runs in the fifth and four runs in the top of the seventh. 

MHS scored one run in three consecutive innings from the bottom of the second through the fourth inning. 

Jackson collected 16 hits and had two errors, while McClain finished the FAC game with five hits and four errors. 

Leah Lovett had two of McClain’s hits at 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI, as one of her hits was a double and the other a home run. 

Cami Gall also hit a home run for McClain as she was 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. 

Emma Posey was 1-for-4, and Amaya Ryan was 1-for-3. Also for MHS, Brylee Douglas forced a walk and scored a run. 

Gall and Kyndee Willams were the pitchers for MHS with each having a strikeout. 

For Jackson, Maddie Wright and Lillie Eberts each had four-hit games as Wright hit a double and home run. Also with an extra-base hit for JHS was Aaliyah Barnett.

On Thursday, the McClain Lady Tigers lost in non-conference to the Western Brown Lady Broncos by a 10-0 score in five innings. 

McClain finished with one hit and five errors, while WBHS had three hits and no errors. 

WBHS had two hits in the bottom of the first, followed with one run in the third, three runs in the fourth and four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

McClain’s hit was off the bat of Emma Posey, who was 1-for-2. Walks drawn by McClain were by Olivia Stegbauer and Leah Lovett. 

Kyndee Williams allowed just two earned runs in 3.1 innings, finishing with three strikeouts. Cami Gall pitched 1.1 innings with no earned runs and no hits.

The McClain Lady TIgers had a big battle on the softball diamond Friday night as they hosted the North Adams Lady Green Devils where they gave a great effort, but fell by a 10-7 score. 

MHS totaled 12 hits and had one error, while the Lady Green Devils totaled 10 hits and two errors. 

Neither team scored a run in the first inning, but NAHS had four runs in the top of the second, followed with two runs in the third for a 6-0 lead. MHS came back with a run of their own from Brie Cummins off a sacrifice fly hit to centerfield by Olivia Stegbauer. 

NAHS answered with two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Tigers added another run to their total in the bottom of the fourth when Kambriah Tomlin hit a ground ball to second base, scoring Amaya Ryan. 

North Adams scored a run in the top of the fifth, only to see the Lady Tigers score two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 9-4 score in favor of NAHS. McClain’s two fifth-inning runs were scored by Annabelle Pastrimas and Cummins off a single to centerfield by Ryan. 

In the bottom of the sixth, Tomlin hit a home run over the left field fence, and after a North Adams home run in the top of the seventh, McClain saw Stegbauer smash a home run over the left field fence for a 10-6 score. MHS scored their seventh and final run off a double hit by Ryan, plating Lovett. 

Ryan finished a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, three RBI and two doubles. 

Cummins was 2-for-4 with two runs, and teammate Lovett finished 2-for-4 with one run and a steal. 

Emma Posey was 1-for-2, and Pastrimas was 1-for-2 with a run. The Lady Tigers also had Stegbauer finish 1-for-3 with a run, two RBI, and a SAC fly. Tomlin was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Cami Gall forced a walk for MHS. 

Gall pitched 1.1 innings with one strikeout, and teammate Kyndee Williams pitched 5.2 innings with two strikeouts.

After the three games, the Lady Tigers are now 9-8 overall and 2-4 in the FAC. 

Next for MHS is a game now scheduled for home at Daryle Unger Field, where the Lady Tigers will host the Hillsboro Lady Indians at 5 p.m. in FAC play.
