As the holiday season approaches, Home Helpers of Hillsboro, a senior care franchise specializing in non-medical and personal in-home care and companionship services, is offering a list of holiday activities for area families to share with the senior citizens in their lives.
The Highland Amateur Radio Association will hold its annual Christmas dinner on Friday evening, Dec. 7 in the basement meeting room of the Highland County Administration Building. The catered meal will be served at 6 p.m. The cost is $7.50 per person.
The Highland County Senior Citizen Center, 185 Muntz Street, Hillsboro, will host a Christmas bazaar Thursday and Friday, Dec. 6-7, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for holiday shopping.
Mrs. Claus will make an appearance at Christmas at the Cabin on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Santa will be joining her and Santa Belle will be on hand to take photos.
Women ages 40 and older should receive a mammogram ever year. Early detection of breast cancer can significantly improve a woman's chance of survival. Thanks to a generous grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and St. Elizabeth Hospital, mammograms will be offered at no cost on Friday, Dec. 7.
The Highland County Veterans Service Commission will meet on Monday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. at the Highland County Veterans Service Office, 135 N. High St. in Hillsboro. This meeting is open to the public.
The Highland County Democratic Women and the Highland County Democratic Central and Executive Committee will hold their annual joint carry-in Christmas dinner and auction on Monday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the County Administration Building.
