  • Make American history dramatic again

Public debates have recently focused on school history standards – what the Advanced Placement program should teach in its African-American Studies course and what the state of Florida should say about the effects of slavery. These are important questions. But I’m concerned about a longer-term problem: the danger of making American history and civics dull.
  • Red carpet for Afghanistan, Ukraine, but cold shoulder for Maui
While neglecting the home front, and funding corrupt foreign countries, Biden also has provided for them on U.S. soil. Programs such as “Uniting for Ukraine” and “Operation Allies Welcome” have made available resettlement benefits and parole, an immigration status that includes work permission, to many thousands of foreigners. Additionally, more than 70,000 Ukrainians have not arrived via Biden’s official program but rather have come illegally through the Southwest border.
  • Pa. Gov. Shapiro wrong approach to grid reliability
Decades of programs like Pennsylvania’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards, which subsidize expensive and unreliable energy and discourage the development of reliable fossil fuels, are failing Pennsylvanians.
  • With China and Russia on the warpath, it’s the wrong time to reinvent a triad
The Army would be better served to use different terms to describe the strategic effects of the confluence of Space, Cyber, and Special Operations capabilities, rather than appropriate a term that describes the strategic arsenal that has deterred our adversaries for over seven decades.
  • A sermon on Matthew 16:13-20
How will Jesus remember you in your judgment? Have you lived your life in a way that Jesus will remember you as faithful to Him? Will He remember you as living Micah 6:8, "This is what the Lord requires of you. Be fair to other people. Love kindness and loyalty, and humbly obey your God."

  • Partnership between parents, teachers key to recovery from pandemic learning loss
Parents are the first and foremost educators of our country’s next generation. The work our teachers and educators do is incredible and often inspirational, but it is by nature limited in scope. By design, God gave parents the precious responsibility of guiding children 24/7, 365.
  • Sen. Fischer, 18 GOP Senators urge Biden to withdraw funding block on school hunting, archery programs
“While the administration claims to be eliminating dangerous activities, this guidance will, in fact, have the opposite effect. These programs provided thousands of students with the opportunity to learn proper instruction for firearm and archery safety,” the senators wrote.
  • Creek song
I know that the other sounds of our creek valley world still surround me, but I cannot hear them. At this moment, all I hear is the soothing song of my dear tractor. My heart is full.
  • The new IRS, same as the old IRS
The Internal Revenue Service recently tried to reinvent itself. Earlier this year, outfitted with an additional $80 billion and 87,000 new agents, the agency unveiled a new set of priorities for the next eight years. Its Strategic Operating Plan promises to “deliver transformational change for taxpayers” while improving services. That may sound too good to be true – because it is.

  • Points of decivilization
There are many reasons to be discouraged by the America of today, especially if you follow the news media and the politicians. Encouragement is found in the countryside.
  • The virtual worlds of climate and energy
While humans’ capacity to protect themselves from nature has grown considerably, humanity remains subject to the regularity of the tides and the whims of the weather. Despite our steadily growing appreciation of how complex natural and social processes really are, we have convinced ourselves that we can understand and control how events will unfold.
