The McClain Lady Tigers built a strong first half lead and never let up Saturday afternoon, as they won another South Central Ohio League contest, defeating the Madison-Plains Lady Golden Eagles 64-49 at MPHS.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has announced she is providing instruction to the state’s 88 county boards of elections on changes to the state’s statewide voter registration database. Changes the Secretary has made have helped boards to significantly reduce duplicate registrations within and between counties.

Ohio's unemployment rate was 10.9 percent in December, up from 10.6 percent in November, according to data released Jan. 22 by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio’s nonfarm wage and salary employment decreased 16,700 over the month, from 5,103,600 in November to 5,086,900 in December.

The Hillsboro City Council Street and Safety Committee meeting, Brian Waller, chairman, will meet Wednesday, Jan. 27,  at 5 p.m., at 130 North High Street in the City Building Conference Room.

A reward of $1,000 has been posted for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of a person or persons involved in a breaking and entering in Lynchburg, according to Mayor Jeremy Shaffer.
