Mustangs fall to Bethel-Tate in OT

     On Saturday the undefeated Bethel Tate Tigers and the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs battled into overtime with the Tigers (5-0) coming out on top with a 15-0 run in the OT frame, defeating L-C 67-52 at LCHS, in non-league play.

I just wanted to wish a very Merry Christmas to someone that has touched my life during this joyous season as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. That person would be the one that has stolen the white poinsettias that I placed on my son's grave last Tuesday.

Ohio unemployment up slightly to 10.6 percent

Ohio's unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in November, up slightly from 10.5 percent in October, according to data released Dec. 18 by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 5,400 over the month, from 5,104,000 in October to 5,109,400 in November. "The number of employed Ohioans rose slightly in November, but not enough to produce a significant change in the unemployment rate," ODJFS Director Douglas Lumpkin said.

Voinovich warns Medicaid will be costly to states in health reform bill
As a former governor of Ohio, former chairman of the National Governors Association and past chairman of the National League of Cities, one gimmick I am particularly concerned with is the one that puts 14 million additional individuals into the Medicaid program and then asks the states to pick up a portion of the tab. I am very familiar with what unfunded mandates can do to state and local governments, and want to highlight some of the potential consequences of the Medicaid expansion for my colleagues.
