Effective with this week’s edition, The Highland County Press is now a paid newspaper publication.
    “We are asking for our current readers who are receiving home or business delivery via our motor route carriers or staff members to pay an annual subscription fee of $10,” said HCP publisher Rory Ryan.

Daniels files petitions as Ohio Senate candidate
State Representative David Daniels has formally filed his petitions for candidacy for the 17th Senate District at the Ross County Board of Elections.  David is running to serve in the seat currently held by Senator John Carey (R-Wellston) who cannot run for re-election due to term limits.

Winter storm warning leads to school delays
A winter storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, as a heavy band of snow, sleet and rain moves through the Ohio Valley. The forecast calls for 3 to 5 inches of snow for Highland County. Heavier amounts are predicted to the north and east.

Lady Lions fall to Fayetteville in SHL DIV. II championship game
The Fayetteville Lady Rockets repeated history Thursday night, as they took down the Fairfield Lady Lions for the second straight year to win the Southern Hills League Division II championship 67-54 at Fayetteville High School.
