Highland County commissioners proclaimed April as Cleanup, Fixup and Pickup Month for the Rocky Fork Lake area, as requested by the Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance, Paint Township Trustees, the Home Owners Associations, and ODNR.

On March 30, the Hillsboro Police Department received a call from the manager of Bob Evans. She was reporting a theft of money from a nightly deposit over the weekend. This report remains under investigation.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and a time to increase community awareness for child abuse prevention while highlighting the successes of families, children and community professionals. During 2009, nearly 643 children were served by Highland County Children Services. Some of these children were placed in agency foster care for a variety of issues, including physical abuse, neglect of care, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
