    Ohio Ethics Commission extends filing deadline

    The Ohio Ethics Commission has extended the due date for Financial Disclosure forms. The Commission extended the deadline from April 15 to April 17 this year to be consistent with 2012 IRS requirements. The Commission reminds public officials and employees that the forms must be received or postmarked by that date.

    The Ohio Fourth District Court of Appeals has upheld the decision of a Highland County trial court in a Springfield's man appeal of his convictions of attempted gross sexual imposition and importuning.

    City of Hillsboro's general fund at 10-year low
       Officials for the city of Hillsboro say they will continue to monitor the city's financial situation after the general fund fell below $100,000 for the first time in more than a decade during the month of March.
    
   According to the year-to-date fund report submitted April 9 to the Hillsboro City Council by Hillsboro Auditor Gary Lewis, the unencumbered balance was $99,707.49 for the end of March.

    SSCC selects architect for campus expansion; discusses enrollment
    Selection of an architect for the Brown County campus expansion project, a report on the rebranding initiative and a decrease in enrollment were among the agenda items discussed during the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday.
     
    During the meeting, held at the Fayette Campus in Washington C.H., SSCC Vice President of Business and Finance Jim Buck reported to the board that he anticipates the college will be able to finish the fiscal year "well within our current budget" despite a more than 13-percent decrease in enrollment.

    Former court employee withdraws motion to seal conviction
    A former employee with the Highland County Common Pleas Court, who was convicted in 2006 of felony charges of tampering with records and forgery, has withdrawn a motion for expungement.
    
     Tammy Sandlin was convicted by a jury in November 2006 of a third-degree felony charge of tampering with records and a fifth-degree felony charge of forgery.

    Council discusses parking ordinance, township contracts WATCH THE VIDEO

       A representative of the Hillsboro Uptown Business Assocaition (HUBA) addressed the Hillsboro City Council Monday to ask that the city once again take a look at enforcing uptown parking regulations.
       Brent Huffman, HUBA vice president, asked council, during its regular April meeting, to consider enforcement, as well as looking into extending the amount of time one patron is allowed to park in a space.
