Wilmington man sentenced on drug trafficking charge in Highland County
A Wilmington man was sentenced to a year in prison recently after pleading guilty to a drug trafficking charge in Highland County.
Glenn Arledge Jr., 42, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in April and charged with one count each of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both third-degree felonies.
According to court records, Arledge pleaded guilty to the trafficking count one month later, on May 6. The possession charge was dismissed.
The indictment alleged that on or about March 1, Arledge “did knowingly prepare for shipment, ship, transport, deliver, prepare for distribution or distribute a fentanyl-related compound … in an amount equal to or exceeding five grams but less than 10 grams” while allegedly “knowing or having reason to believe the controlled substance was intended for sale or resale.”
After accepting Arledge’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced him to 12 months in prison. Arledge had 66 days of jail time credit.
Arledge is now incarcerated in the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
