Washington Court House man sentenced to prison for trafficking meth
A Washington Court House man already incarcerated in prison was sentenced to more time this week after pleading guilty to trafficking meth in Highland and Fayette counties.
Donald J. Jordan II, 32, was indicted in February 2024 as the result of a Highland County Task Force drug investigation. He was charged with one count each of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone, a second-degree felony; aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound in the vicinity of a school zone, a third-degree felony; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony.
According to court records, Jordan pleaded guilty July 9 to the second-degree felony count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone, which alleged that he knowingly sold or offered to sell meth “in Highland County and as a continuing course of criminal conduct in Fayette County.” The other three charges were dismissed.
A bill of particulars alleges that on or about May 2, 2023, Jordan and a confidential informant (CI) working with the Highland County Task Force agreed to meet at a Greenfield store, which is within 1,000 feet of a school zone, for a drug transaction.
It is alleged that Jordan sold a plastic bag of drugs to the CI, then “shortly thereafter” called the CI to say he had “accidentally shorted” the CI by two grams of meth. Jordan arranged to sell the rest of the meth to the CI at a business in New Martinsburg.
According to the bill of particulars, Jordan sold one bag containing 4.36 grams of meth and one bag containing .69 gram of meth to the CI.
Jordan pleaded guilty to the charge via Zoom, as he was appearing from the Madison Correctional Institution. He has been incarcerated since Sept. 15, 2023, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Jordan was sentenced Sept. 8 to four years in prison after pleading guilty in Fayette County Common Pleas Court to one count of burglary and three counts of grand theft, all third-degree felonies.
Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Jordan to a mandatory term of three years in prison, to be served consecutive to the Fayette County sentence, for a total of seven years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Jordan could serve an additional year and a half in prison. He had nine days of jail time credit in the Highland County case.
Jordan was also ordered to pay $330 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
