Paint Creek firefighter survives accident in Greenfield flooding

On Sept. 12 at 6:51 p.m. while members of the Paint Creek Joint EMS & Fire District were on the scene of flooding in the area of 200 N. 11th Street in Greenfield, they had a firefighter get pulled into a culvert pipe. 

The firefighter was pulled 179 feet through the culvert coming out on the other side. 

The firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene and transported to the emergency room. 

He is expected to be discharged to home. While the district excited about the outcome, they also are concerned as to how this happened. They will be reviewing this incident and will be working on solutions to prevent this situation from happening again in the future. 

The district thanks those that assisted during this incident and to everyone who has reached out to check on the crews.

Heavy rains Saturday caused widespread flooding in Greenfield and Paint Township.
