Merchants National Bank (MNB) announces the retirement of Linda Smith, Senior Vice President of Credit Administration, following 27 years of dedicated service to the bank and the communities it serves.

Smith joined MNB in 1998 and quickly became an integral part of the team. Throughout her tenure, she played a key role in strengthening the bank’s credit administration processes, supporting responsible leadership practices, and guiding the bank’s continued growth and stability. Her leadership, deep knowledge, and commitment to both customers and coworkers helped shape the strong culture that defines the bank today.

Her banking career began in September 1981 at Farmers & Traders Bank, where she started in the Bookings department. She moved to the loan department and steadily advanced through several roles, serving as a loan clerk, loan officer, and assistant manager, before joining MNB in 1998.

“Linda’s dedication and leadership have made a lasting positive impact on our bank,” said Paul W. Pence Jr., MNB Chairman and Former CEO. “For nearly three decades at MNB and over 40 years in banking, she has exemplified what it means to serve with integrity and heart. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and wish her nothing but the best in retirement.”

Outside of work, Smith enjoys time with her family. She and her husband, Steve, are proud parents of daughters Debbie (Branden) and Julie (Brad), and grandparents to five grandchildren. She is an active member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and looks forward to spending time golfing, gardening, traveling, and making memories with her family.

Please join Merchants National Bank in congratulating Linda on an outstanding career and wishing her a happy and well-deserved retirement.
