Leesburg man, woman indicted on drug possession and trafficking charges
A Leesburg man and woman were charged in a 12-count indictment handed down by a Highland County grand jury this week, according to court records.
Dylan Rodgers, 25, and Katelin Rodgers, 23, were jointly charged with nine counts, including one count each of trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, trafficking in hashish (solid) and possession of hashish (solid), all third-degree felonies; two counts of receiving stolen property, both fourth-degree felonies; one count each of trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs, both fourth-degree felonies; and a forfeiture specification.
Dylan Rodgers was additionally charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; a third count of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony.
The indictment, handed down March 5, was initially secret, with the document unsealed March 8 as both defendants have been arrested.
It is alleged that in July 2023, Dylan Rodgers and Katelin Rodgers “did prepare for shipment, ship, transport, deliver, prepare for distribution or distribute marijuana … in an amount equal to or exceeding 200 grams but less than 1,000 grams;” “hashish in solid form … in an an amount equal to or exceeding 50 grams but less than 250 grams;” and Alprazolam (aka Xanax). The defendants are accused of knowing or having “reasonable cause to believe that the controlled substance was intended for sale or resale by the offenders or another person.”
The indictment also alleges that between June and July of 2023, the defendants “did receive, retain or dispose of” two motor vehicles, belonging to two separate victims, while “knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the property had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.” Dylan Rodgers is separately accused of “receiving, retaining or disposing of” another vehicle, owned by a third victim.
Dylan Rodgers has been charged with “knowingly acquiring, having, carrying or using a firearm or dangerous ordnance” despite allegedly “not having been released from disability” due to prior drug possession charges. He is also accused of “knowingly obtaining, possessing or using” a fentanyl-related compound on a separate date in January 2023.
Listed as subject to forfeiture for their alleged “instrumentality in the commission or facilitation of the offense(s)” are six different weapons and related magazines, ammunition and a case, as well as a property on South Railroad Street in Leesburg.
A bond review hearing for both defendants is scheduled for March 11.
An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
