Next week the community will have the opportunity to admire the artwork of Greenfield’s elementary students as the school will welcome all to walk through the halls and see what the kids have made.
According to art teacher William Roller, every Greenfield Elementary student from preschool to fifth grade will have art displayed, and some will have more than one piece.
He said parents, grandparents, guardians and community members will be able to tour the school on Monday, Dec. 15 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Greenfield Elementary and see students’ art displayed outside their classrooms.
During the event, the PTO will be selling hot chocolate and cookies for patrons to enjoy. Additionally, a snow globe-themed photo opportunity will be available for all.
“Every single student will have a piece of art in the show,” Roller said. “Most will have two, some will even have three, or have their work featured in group projects. The central theme is Christmas and the pieces are a patchwork ranging from winter landscapes, reindeer in Christmas sweaters, to cardinals and Christmas trees, and even some Andy Warhol inspired Santas.”
Students have been working on creating art for the show since before Thanksgiving, Roller said.
“Most of the art shows will be in the spring time on campus, and we felt that we could do something special by having this during the holidays,” Roller said.
Along with all the artwork, the hot chocolate and cookies, and the snow globe photo op, he said there will also be music. It will be “90 minutes of holiday fun, and a chance to share our creations with family and the community.”
