The Lynchburg-Clay Schools Board of Education has appointed Bonnie Rusch to serve on the Board of Education following the vacancy created by the resignation of Stacie Rhonemus.

Rusch was officially appointed during the board's July 9 meeting and will serve through the remainder of the term.

A graduate of Lynchburg-Clay Schools, Rusch brings a strong background in health care, public health and child development, and is passionate about supporting children and families. As a parent with a child in each of the district's school buildings, she also brings the perspective of a current Lynchburg-Clay family.

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this role" Rusch said. "As a nurse, public health leader and early intervention development specialist, I've dedicated my career to supporting children and families. I believe strong schools build strong communities, and I'm excited to work alongside educators, families and fellow board members to help create opportunities for every student to succeed."

Board President Richard Warner said the board was impressed by the quality of applicants and believes Rusch's experience and ties to the district make her an excellent addition.

"We are very excited to have Bonnie join the board," Warner said. "She brings leadership experience at the Health Department and extensive knowledge as a child development specialist. We could not have been more impressed with all of our candidates."
