A Shumway Hollow (Minford) resident received a life sentence without parole eligibility for the next 34 years following her convictions for aggravated murder and 11 other counts following a weeklong jury trial which concluded Aug. 16.

A Scioto County teen received a life sentence without parole eligibility for the next 27 years following his conviction for murder and felonious assault after a five-day jury trial which concluded July 26.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced that on July 19, deputies and detectives responded to a residence on Eckhart Road in Lucasville in an attempt to locate a male for whom a Scioto County grand jury had returned an indictment warrant earlier that day. The indictment was in reference to an ongoing investigation of the alleged rape of a child.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman reports that his 911 communication center received a call Sunday, June 30 around 9:33 a.m. from a neighbor stating there had been a shooting next door. A second 911 call came in from a female allegedly claiming that she had shot her boyfriend.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman states that the 911 communication center received a call at 7:36 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, from a male stating that his pickup truck was just stolen.

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office joined the Ohio Department of Public Safety, RecoveryOhio and other law enforcement and treatment agencies to conduct a coordinated drug/outreach saturation event known as Operation BRIDGE, or Bridging Recovery and Interdiction Data Gathering Enforcement.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced Tuesday the arrests of a Lucasville man and a Portsmouth man on multiple charges after an alleged crime spree.

The Board of Commissioners of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection recently reimbursed $266,758.17 to 17 victims of attorney theft.

A Franklin Furnace resident was given a 23-28.5-year prison sentence following a four-day jury trial in front of Judge Mark Kuhn of the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas concluding on Feb. 23.
