Scioto County Sheriff's Office, Press Release

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman stated that the 911 communication center received a call Nov. 15 at 7:46 p.m. to respond to Disterdick Lane, Ironton, in regard to a reported shooting.

Sheriff Thoroughman stated that deputies and detectives responded to this location, and upon arrival a male was found deceased. The deceased was located behind the steering wheel of a Chevy Equinox that had multiple bullet holes in it. A male identified as the shooter was detained and later charged in connection to the shooting.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was contacted to assist with processing the crime scene. Detectives were able to identify the deceased male as a 24-year-old man from South Shore, Ky. The victim’s body was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

During the investigation, detectives learned that another male was allegedly inside the vehicle during the shooting. That male allegedly fled on foot, and detectives were able to locate him within minutes walking on U.S. 52 in the Franklin Furnace area. He was detained and brought to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

Arrested was Jacub Tyler Carver, 25, of Franklin Furnace. Carver has been charged with one count of murder, a felony of the first degree.

Sheriff Thoroughman stated that this is still an ongoing investigation that may result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County grand jury on a later date.
