The passing of Thanksgiving weekend means that the holiday season is literally in full swing. Hopefully you were able to spend Thanksgiving Day with family and friends that are important to you.

The placing of a Christmas wreath and a short ceremony will take place at the veterans memorial on the Highland County courthouse lawn, Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.

To date, four Hillsboro restaurants are putting up their best recipes in a Christmas Chili Cook-off at Bayview Campground & Cottages on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The Highland County Victim Witness office is seeking caring and compassionate volunteers to assist county victims at a time of need.

"Caring. Close to Home" is a fitting tagline for Highland District Hospital. It seems just as fitting for a 16-year volunteer who just chalked up 1,000 volunteer hours.

Last week certainly had a more typical look and feel of fall weather with the cooler, damp, and windy conditions.  The wind certainly removed most of the remaining leaves on the trees. As I have said on many occasions before, I am definitely not a big fan of the shorter daylight hours that this time of year brings. Maybe it wouldn’t seem so bad this year if the Bengals were having a better season!
