    Hillsboro sweeps Huntington Invitational

    The 2012 Huntington Invitational may have been hosted by Huntington High School, but it was the HHS of Hillsboro High School who dominated the event, as both the boys and girls track & field teams won their respective meets Tuesday, with the boys scoring 151.50 points and the girls scoring 183.50 points for the wins.

    On a cold, windy Sunday afternoon at Southeastern High School, the Hillsboro eighth graders continued their winning ways in the first game of a doubleheader with hot bats, keen eyes and solid base-running to earn a 13-4 victory.

    Though the Hillsboro Lady Indians took an early multi-run lead, one rough inning by the Lady Indians led to a win by the Miami Trace Lady Panthers Monday, defeating visiting HHS, 12-7 at MTHS.

    Hillsboro couldn't find a hit when they needed it the most on Monday at Miami Trace. HHS not only couldn't bring runners home, stranding 12, but the Panthers did some little things right, leading to their 2-0 win over the Indians.

    At one point, the South Central Ohio League contest between the Hillsboro Lady Indians and the McClain Lady Tigers was tied at two runs apiece, but that didn't last long with the visiting Lady Tigers eventually dominating their Highland County rival for a 14-2 win Friday at Alice Cassner Field in Hillsboro.
