By
Office of State Sen. Shane Wilkin, Press Release

State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) Monday announced the Ohio Controlling Board has released $1,707,033 for the General Tibits Drive project in Jackson County.

One-hundred and seventy-two jobs will be created as a result of the roadwork and state assistance.

"This critical roadwork will create new jobs, new businesses and, in turn, new opportunities for the people of Jackson and the whole county," Wilkin said. "This is a great day for our entire area, and I'm excited to see the results of this project in the future."

The roadwork will include construction and paving of 3,900 feet of General Tibits Drive between Veterans Drive and McCarty Lane. Once completed, the road will provide improved truck access, attract new businesses and encourage current business expansion.

The funds are provided through the Ohio Department of Developments Roadwork Development (629) Grant program. These grant dollars are available for public roadway improvements that primarily involve manufacturing, distribution activity and other developments. Projects must typically create or retain jobs for the local community.

Senator Shane Wilkin represents the 17th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Vinton counties, as well as part of Perry County. Learn more at www.OhioSenate.gov/Wilkin.
