Ohio Senate passes bill promoting veterans benefits

By
Office of State Senator Terry Johnson, Press Release

The Ohio Senate passed Senate Bill 281, sponsored by State Senators Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) and Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus).

The legislation creates a new poster to be displayed in workplaces that promotes veterans benefits available to Ohio's heroes.

"Our veterans dedicated their lives to protecting our country and upholding our Constitution," Johnson said. "This legislation is a simple way to ensure they know about the resources available to them for employment and workforce development, their physical and mental well-being, and other benefits that will serve them well."

Senate Bill 281 requires the Departments of Commerce and Veterans Services to collaborate on a poster explaining the benefits offered to veterans in Ohio. The Department of Commerce is required to provide copies of these posters to employers at their request. Businesses are not required to display them.

The bill now goes to the Ohio House of Representatives for consideration.

Senator Johnson represents the 14th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses all of Adams, Brown, Clermont and Scioto counties. Learn more at www.OhioSenate.gov.
