Hillsboro man sentenced in felonious assault case
A Hillsboro man accused of causing “serious physical harm” to an infant earlier this year was sentenced recently to at least five years in prison.
As previously reported, William Marshall, 26, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in August and charged with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and two charges of endangering children, one second-degree and one third-degree felony.
The indictment accused Marshall and a codefendant, Elishia Current, of “knowingly causing serious physical harm” to a newborn victim during an approximate one-month period earlier this year. Current was already sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison for felonious assault.
According to court records, Marshall pleaded guilty to the felonious assault charge Oct. 29, with the two child endangering charges dismissed.
Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Marshall to a minimum of five years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, he could serve up to seven and a half years in prison. Marshall had 84 days of jail time credit.
Marshall is now incarcerated in the Southeastern Correctional Institution, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
