Hillsboro man sentenced to community control in drug possession case

A Hillsboro man was sentenced recently to community control after pleading guilty to a meth possession charge.

As previously reported, Josiah M. Dragon, 25, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in April and charged with aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony. 

According to a bill of particulars, a Highland County Sheriff’s Deputy made a traffic stop on Dec. 30 on a vehicle in which Dragon was allegedly a passenger. After a K9 officer “indicated on the passenger side of the vehicle,” a deputy located “several hypodermic needles” before Dragon eventually “admitted to placing meth in his pants,” the bill of particulars alleged.

It is further alleged that a baggie was retrieved and later determined, by BCI analysis, to contain 3.46 grams of meth. 

According to court records, Dragon pleaded guilty to the charge in June. During a hearing July 16, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Dragon to three years of community control and ordered him to successfully complete substance use disorder/mental health treatment.
