Greenfield man sentenced on drug conveyance charge

A Greenfield man was sentenced this week to two years in prison after pleading guilty to illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility.

As previously reported, Ian M. West, 28, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in August on that charge as well as one count of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, both third-degree felonies. 

He pleaded guilty Aug. 31, just four weeks later, to the conveyance charge, with the possession charge dismissed.

The indictment alleged that on or about June 27, West “did knowingly convey, or attempt to convey,” methamphetamine onto the grounds of the Greenfield jail. 

After accepting West’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced West to a definite determinate term of 24 months in prison, with 63 days of jail time credit.
