Greenfield man sentenced to community control for having weapon under disability
A Greenfield man was sentenced to community control this week after pleading guilty to having weapons while under disability.
As previously reported, Damian R. Calhoun, 36, was charged with having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony; and a forfeiture specification during the February Highland County grand jury session. He pleaded guilty to the charges on April 3, according to court records.
A bill of particulars alleges that on or about Dec. 21, Greenfield Police officers responded to a residence after receiving a report that Calhoun was there “with a gun in his pocket.” Officers located the firearm, which Calhoun advised he had purchased.
According to the bill of particulars, Calhoun “had not been relieved from disability” due to a prior burglary conviction in Jackson County, Mo.
During a sentencing hearing May 1, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss ordered Calhoun to serve three years of community control and to successfully complete a recommended treatment program and aftercare. The weapon — a semiautomatic pistol — was ordered to be forfeited to the Greenfield Police Department, court records show.
