A Greenfield man was sentenced to community control Thursday after pleading guilty to a cocaine trafficking charge.

Lamont Rickman, 48, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in February and charged with trafficking in cocaine, a fourth-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a fourth-degree felony; trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Rickman pleaded guilty to the trafficking in cocaine charge in February, with the remaining charges dismissed, according to court records.

As previously reported by the Village of Greenfield, the Greenfield Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Lamont Rickman’s vehicle on the night of Oct. 10. It was found that while in the car, Rickman had allegedly been sitting on a pill bottle, which also had his name on it. Included in the bottle’s contents was a bulk amount of what field-tested positive to be cocaine. A search warrant was obtained and executed at Rickman’s residence, where more drugs, which included miscellaneous pills, were allegedly recovered.

According to a bill of particulars, the bottle found in Rickman’s vehicle was determined to contain 7.17 grams of cocaine.

Rickman appeared in Highland County Common Pleas Court April 4 for sentencing. Judge Rocky Coss sentenced him to three years of community control. Rickman was also ordered to successfully complete a substance use disorder treatment program.
