A Greenfield man charged in two separate Highland County cases was sentenced recently to community control.

As previously reported, Sheridan Riffle, 22, was charged in a Highland County Task Force case and a separate indictment, both in February 2024.

In the Task Force case, Riffle was charged with trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound in the vicinity of a school zone, a fourth-degree felony; trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony; and two counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies.

According to court records, Riffle pleaded guilty June 5 to trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound in the vicinity of a school zone, a fourth-degree felony, with the other charges dismissed.

For that charge, it is alleged that on or about May 5, 2023, Riffle sold a plastic bag containing fentanyl to a confidential informant (CI) working with the Highland County Task Force. The transaction allegedly occurred at a Greenfield restaurant.

In an unrelated case, Riffle was charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony; and theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty June 5 to the felony charge.

That count alleged that on or about June 8, 2023, Riffle “did by force, stealth or deception knowingly trespass in a business building, with purpose to commit therein a theft offense.”

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Riffle to three years of community control and ordered him to successfully complete substance use disorder treatment and any recommended aftercare. Riffle was also ordered to pay $200 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
