Greenfield man sentenced to 1 year in prison for meth trafficking

A Greenfield man was sentenced last week to a year in prison after pleading guilty to a drug trafficking in charge.

David Allen Bennett, 53, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in May and charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; and theft by deception, a first-degree misdemeanor. The indictment was initially made secret. 

Bennett pleaded guilty July 8 to the trafficking charge, with the theft count dismissed, according to court records.

The indictment alleged that on or about Sept. 24, 2025, Bennett “did knowingly sell or offer to sell” meth “in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.”

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Bennett to 12 months in prison, with jail time credit of 63 days. Bennett was also ordered to pay $60 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
