A Greenfield man indicted earlier this month was sentenced Thursday to a year in prison for trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.

As previously reported, Francis Jordan, 47, was indicted Oct. 2 and charged with two counts each of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, all fourth-degree felonies.

According to Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins, officers with the Highland County Task Force arrested four men and one woman during the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 1, following the defendants’ respective secret indictments on drug charges.

Jordan pleaded guilty Thursday, Oct. 17 to one count of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound. The other charges were dismissed.

For that charge, a bill of particulars alleges that on or about Feb. 6, a confidential informant (CI) working with the Highland County Task Force arranged to purchase fentanyl from Jordan. They met on a street in Greenfield, where it is alleged Jordan sold a cigarette box of drugs to the CI.

The substance allegedly inside the box was analyzed by Ohio BCI and “found to contain a fentanyl-related compound, with a weight of 1.33 grams,” according to the bill of particulars.

After accepting Jordan’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Jordan to 12 months in prison. Jordan had 17 days of jail time credit. He was also ordered to pay $350 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.
