Greenfield man gets community control in counterfeiting case
A Greenfield man has been sentenced to three years of community control after pleading guilty to counterfeiting.
As previously reported, Steven Kingsolver, 42, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in February and charged with two counts of counterfeiting, a fourth-degree felony, and two counts of theft by deception, a first-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, Kingsolver pleaded guilty to both felony counterfeiting charges May 16, while the misdemeanor theft charges were dismissed.
The indictment accused Kingsolver of “passing, uttering, selling, purchasing, concealing or transferring any counterfeit obligation or other security of the United States” in August 2023 and again in December 2023. It is alleged that he did so “with purpose to defraud or knowing that he was facilitating a fraud.”
According to court records, Kingsolver was ordered to pay $500 in restitution to a Highland County business, joint and several with an alleged co-defendant, and $40 in restitution to an unrelated Highland County business.
In addition to sentencing Kingsolver to community control, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss ordered Kingsolver to successfully complete substance use disorder treatment and aftercare.
