Felicity man sentenced in Highland County firearms cases

A Felicity man was sentenced to community control recently after pleading guilty to firearms charges in two separate Highland County cases.

Tyler James Hundley, 19, of Felicity was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in June and charged with two counts of improperly furnishing firearms to a minor, both fifth-degree felonies. 

In July, Hundley was also charged via bill of information with one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, and a forfeiture specification. 

According to court records, Hundley pleaded guilty to one count of improperly furnishing firearms to a minor, plus the charges in the bill of information, on Aug. 5. The other fifth-degree felony charge was dismissed.

For the June case, a bill of particulars alleges that on or about April 7, Hundley provided a “fully operable” firearm to a juvenile through a partial trade and partial sale arranged on social media. 

The bill of information in the July case alleges that on or about June 26, Hundley “knowingly transported or had a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle … in such a manner that the firearm was accessible to the operator or a passenger without leaving the vehicle.” The 9mm handgun, magazine and ammunition were found to be “subject to forfeiture due to their instrumentality in the commission or facilitation of the offense.”

During a Sept. 2 hearing, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Hundley to three years of community control. For the July case, Coss ordered the firearm to be forfeited to the Lynchburg Police Department.
