Southern State Community College has released its president's and dean's list for academic excellence for Fall Quarter 2009. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours. Those who achieve the dean's list are also full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. In light of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a group of sophomores from Whiteoak High School went to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on January 15, as a part of their history and English curriculum. They learned about the history of Cincinnati and its important role in the underground railroad.

Cargill will award $350,000 in scholarships to high-school seniors who live in communities where Cargill has operations and plan to enroll in post-secondary education next fall.
