Office of State Sen. Shane Wilkin, Press Release

State Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) has announced that more than $5 million is coming to the 17th Senate District to support career-technical education programs. The award recipients will use the funds to prepare Ohio's students for future careers.

"Our state is reaping the benefits of economic success, and it is critical that our children are prepared to meet the ever-growing demands of the workforce," Wilkin said. "I’m excited these funds are coming to Southern Ohio to directly help our students jumpstart their careers."

Awardees in the 17th Senate District include:

• Adena Local: $390,647

• Dawson-Bryant Local: $2,093,785

• Lawrence County: $102,840.06

• New Lexington School District: $2,500,000.

These dollars come from the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program, which funds the purchase of updated equipment for career-technical programs. 56 schools across Ohio will receive more than $67.7 million from this program to expand their reach to an additional 10,345 students.

The program was allocated money in House Bill 33, the state's main operating budget, which Senator Wilkin supported. The second round of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant will open later this spring. Schools interested in applying can do so at https://workforce.ohio.gov/CTEEquipment.

Senator Shane Wilkin represents the 17th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross and Vinton counties, as well as part of Perry County. Learn more at www.OhioSenate.gov/Wilkin.
