Free lunch for all students at GEVS schools this year

While not a new thing, it’s a good thing that all students within the Greenfield school district get free lunch this school year. Actually free breakfast, too.
Adults on campus, however, do not eat free, but their meal prices will be $5.25, which is in accordance with regulatory guidelines, said district food services director Shelley Smith.
The district is able to offer this program to all students kindergarten through grade 12 because the district meets the Identified Student Percentage (ISP) – which is the proportion of students within a district who qualify for free school meals automatically – of at least 25-percent.
The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), which is part of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), reimburses the district, Smith said, by using a set federal formula multiplied by the ISP for the district.
The district’s nutrition services department “is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to student's health, well-being, and ability to learn,” Smith said. “We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.”
Meals, foods, and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements, which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines, said Smith. She added that the school provides students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet their health and nutrition needs.

There is actually a wealth of information regarding nutrition and wellness on the district’s website (the web address is located below in the last paragraph). Just go to the menu option on the landing page and choose the dining option.
There are many ways to follow along what is going on in the Greenfield Exempted Village School District. You can visit greenfield.k12.oh.us or go to any of the district’s social media pages. The individual buildings also have Facebook pages.
What???
So the Judge's kids, fast food franchises owners' kids, the gambling parlors' kids, and the solar panel kids get free lunch? Will the parents of the kids who receive free breakfast and a free lunch at school get a reduced SNAP payment every month from the government? Because the school is providing over half of the sustenance for kids 5-18 every year anyway. Do the parents who pack their kids' lunches get a kick-back from big brother to cover the costs of their hitler youths' rations? I say MRE's and USS Abe Lincoln mess deck chow for everyone until the morale improves...
