William Brent Furnish
William Brent Furnish, 72, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Maysville, Ky., to the late William Burke Furnish and Zelma Mae (Thompson) Furnish.

Brent was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who cherished time with his family. He took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow and in making memories with them. He will be remembered for his caring nature, his kindness, and the love he so freely gave to those around him.
Brent had a long and distinguished career in public service, healthcare, and government contracting. He spent over 15 years at Highland District Hospital, serving in several finance roles and ultimately as Chief Operating Officer. He later worked as a civilian contractor at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, serving as a project manager, before retiring.
He was a past president of the Hillsboro Rotary Club and a longtime member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ. Brent believed in serving his community and valued the friendships and fellowship he found through his church and civic involvement.
Throughout his life, Brent shared his love of music by playing in several bands, most notably as lead guitarist for Shiloh. He was also an avid sports fan who loyally cheered on the Cincinnati Reds and Xavier University basketball.
Brent loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a special fondness for animals and particularly adored his dogs and cats, who brought him great companionship and joy.
Brent leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories. His love, wisdom, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
Brent is survived by his two sons, William Brian (Carrie) Furnish of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Richard "Richie" Burke (Sara) Furnish of Columbus; three grandchildren, William Blake Furnish, Rebecca Zoe Furnish, and Margot Colette Furnish; brother, Gary L. (Bonnie) Furnish; nephew, Christopher (Jackie) Furnish and their children; niece, Carrie (Grant) Hutchinson and their children; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Graveside services will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 at Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Jeff Lyle officiating.
