John W. Osborn
John W. Osborn, 74, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Clinton Regional Hospital in Wilmington with his devoted wife by his side.
He was born Jan. 13, 1952 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Wayne O. and Wanda Lee (Herdman) Osborn.

John was a member of the Lynchburg Masonic Lodge 178 F. and A.M., the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, and the Living Springs Community Church in Mowrystown. He had retired from Cincinnati Milacron after 32 years of service. He attended The Ohio State University and played guitar in his youth. He enjoyed weekly breakfast with his retired friends, dabbling in farming, and camping. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, papaw and brother, and leaves many other family members and friends as well. He was a man of strength, faith, honesty, goodness, kindness, humor, with a constant love of family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Ruth Ellen (Davis) Osborn, whom he married on Sept. 7, 1974 in Lynchburg. He is also survived by three children, Rachel Elizabeth Osborn of Lynchburg, Zachary John (Courtney) Osborn of Mt. Gilead and Eli Nathanael (Nadine) Osborn of Dodsonville; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Corbin, Ella, Sarah, Laura, Addelynn, Elana, Ruby and Isaac; three sisters, Sharon Kern, Sandy Osborn, Jeannette Osborn, all of Lynchburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 11 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, with Masonic Services to take place at 7:45 p.m. The funeral service will then be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Daniel Jean Claude will officiate. Burial in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
