Bright Local School District teachers receive hands-on training in renewable energies

Teachers in the Bright Local School District, along with educators from neighboring districts, recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a specialized professional development session focused on solar, wind and renewable energies. 

This event was made possible through a partnership with RWE and Kid Wind, who are committed to enhancing education about sustainable energy practices in our schools.

Over 34 teachers took part in this engaging training session, where they not only gained valuable knowledge but also received a $100 stipend and $100 worth of free gear for their classrooms. This support will undoubtedly enrich the learning experiences of their students, as they bring newfound insights and resources back to their schools.

The training was led by Kathy Haniah, a dynamic and energetic trainer who immediately connected with our staff. Her passion for renewable energy was both inspiring and contagious. Haniah also played a crucial role, offering detailed information about the Willowbrook project, a local renewable energy initiative in Highland County. Their combined efforts ensured that the day was both educational and highly impactful.

We are immensely grateful for this partnership opportunity, which is poised to benefit both our teachers and students in countless ways. By equipping our educators with the tools and knowledge to teach renewable energy concepts, we are laying the groundwork for our students to thrive in an increasingly sustainable world. This training is not just about today’s lessons, but about preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the possibility of sending some of our students to regional or even world competitions in the field of renewable energy. The future is bright for Bright Local Schools, and we are eager to see where this journey will take our students.
