Allyce Horne announces candidacy for Highland County Probate/Juvenile Judge
Allyce Horne
I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Judge of the Highland County Probate/Juvenile Court. Born and raised in Highland County, I graduated as valedictorian of Hillsboro High School, class of 2005, graduated from The Ohio State University in 2008 and then from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2011.
Upon passing the bar exam in 2011, I joined the law practice of the late Carroll V. McKinney. Upon his passing in 2013, I maintained the law office at 131 E. Beech Street as my private practice, Horne Law Office Inc., primarily focused on probate and juvenile cases in Highland County, but also representing clients in Probate/Juvenile Courts in 10 other counties throughout Ohio.
Over the years, I have represented numerous clients in the courtroom of the Honorable Judge Kevin Greer, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to Highland County residents.
A member of the Highland County Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association, I am also a Board Member of the Highland County Law Library.
My daughter, Harper, asked, “Why do you want to be Judge, Mom?” to which I answered it has been my longtime goal when the opportunity presented itself. With my experiences as an attorney and as a Guardian Ad Litem, my desire to become a Judge offers the opportunity to be more impactful to the community at large, and particularly with our youth, providing discipline as warranted, but opportunities as well. If elected, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of legal fairness and judicial impartiality, connecting with and serving our community, showing compassion and empathy while providing direction and discipline appropriately.
I also wish to foster trust in the judicial system ensuring those entering the courtroom are treated with dignity, respect and fairness under the law.
My faith and family are of utmost importance to me. I have been raised in the Church, currently attending the Danville Church of Christ, where I have helped with Sunday school classes, Vacation Bible School and other activities.
My late grandfather, Kenneth Mount, at one time was minister there. Further, my late grandmother, Rosalie “Henson” Morgan, was instrumental in the startup of the Senior Citizen Center, serving seniors as the Director for many years. My mother, Lynn Morgan fka Mount, is from the Buford area and my father, Craig Morgan, from the Leesburg area.
I am married to Nathan Horne and am the mother of two wonderful daughters, Kennedy and Harper, both students at Hillsboro High School. Nathan, also born and raised in Highland County, has taught at Hillsboro High School for over 20 years; and for the past four years, has been the head football coach there.
I am currently a member of the Hillsboro Jr. Women’s Club, past Board Member for Highland Health Providers, was a chaperone for two Camp Joy trips with the Hillsboro Elementary School, and am currently a volunteer for the Hillsboro Elementary PTO. Active in youth sports, I have coached the Hillsboro Middle School Girls Soccer program the past two years, and prior to that, many local youth girls’ soccer, softball and basketball teams.
The saying “It Takes a Village” has meaning to me in that my personal development has been guided by so many friends, family, teachers and professional mentors, including local judges and other attorneys. It is my desire to give back to that “village” and our community in the role of Judge of the Highland County Probate/Juvenile Court.
I would very much appreciate your support and your vote in the primary election on May 5, 2026.
